I know one guy. He smokes a lot. And he always keeps saying that smoking help him relax. So he is relaxing with a cigarette all day long, but quite often he doesn’t feel good. He thinks that might be he works too hard or he is old ( he is only 40 actually), but he doesn’t blame smoking. I have been thinking about people who say that smoking help them be relaxed…
First of all, it’s not relaxation at all, because when you smoke, all your muscles are tied. Your mind is relaxed a little, I agree with you, but it’s an illusion as well, because you are on “smoking break”, your brain sucks up nicotine and you feel OK. Maybe. I don’t know. I used to smoke 2 packs a day, but I quit smoking 21 years ago. I remember how I was suffering from craving to cigarettes. Self-hypnosis helped me stop smoking easily.
So real relaxation is when all your body muscles are relaxed and your mind is clear. Real relaxation makes you feel happy. Real relaxation helps you reduce stress.You can learn how to do self-hypnosis for relaxation. But don’t try to be relaxed with a cigarette, it’s harmful to your health. You never will come back to cigarette “relaxation” if you tried real relaxation. It’s like if you have been drinking purified water you won’t like to drink water from Hudson River.
